Distribution deep dive

Distribution deep dive

How do you grow an entertainment studio ata time when streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ and Apple+ are pushing budgets north and shaking up traditional distribution models? For Stuart Baxter, Entertainment One’s (eOne) President of International Distribution, the answer was simple – invest in high quality content and consolidate film, television and digital sales and production activities into a single studio operation.

Today eOne is an international market leader in the acquisition, production and distribution of film and television content. Since joining eOne in 2014, Baxter has led the expansion of the company’s international sales business around the world, with eOne now ranking as the second-largest television distributor in the UK.

Baxter oversees eOne’s global sales team, directing the company’s combined Television and Film sales efforts across international PayTV, FreeTV, SVOD, and AVOD windows. In addition to handling the international distribution for eOne-produced content – such as the global success and US network hit show The Rookie, starring Nathan Fillion - Baxter’s division handles third-party content sales from relationships with first-look production partners, across all genres.

Under his leadership, the team has propelled a number of high-profile projects to international success, including Netflix’s Designated Survivor, starring Kiefer Sutherland and AMC Networks’ record-breaking The Walking Dead, with development currently underway on comedy/thriller Run by Vicky Jones and Phoebe Waller-Bridge - the duo’s first show together since the breakout hit Fleabag.

Baxter is travelling down under this November to appear ‘in conversation’ with Kylie Munnich (Scripted Sales & Co-Production Executive, Seven Studios) at Australia’s premier screen industry event, SCREEN FOREVER. With over 20 years’ experience as an international media and television executive, and a background that spans content sales operations, new and digital media initiatives, broadcast, production, and corporate development and M&A, don’t miss Baxter’s insights into how to invest in high quality content and the way forward for broadcasters and streamers.
