Screen Producers Australia (SPA) and Screen Queensland are excited to welcome Sesame Workshop’s Executive Vice President and Creative Director, Brown Johnson, to Melbourne this November to speak at her first SCREEN FOREVER conference.

Brown is an award-winning producer who is responsible for the development and production of Sesame Workshop’s domestic television content and curriculum. She has an illustrious history in the young audience content realm, serving as President of Animation and Preschool Entertainment at Nickelodeon prior to joining the Workshop, during which time she managed the development and production of more than 200 episodes of programming each year, including pioneering the interactive format of the ground-breaking preschool programs Dora the Explorer and Blue’s Clues.

Now in its 50thyear, Sesame Street has become the longest-running children’s show in American television history. With a curriculum that evolves to meet the needs of every new generation, it is now a force for good in over 70 languages and 150 countries.

With Australian children’s television content, both animated and live-action, acting as an important public asset, as well as playing a key role as a talent development platform for emerging performers and industry practitioners, Sesame Street serves as a rich case study for local producers of long-term intellectual property development in the young audience content space.

Bringing a local perspective to the conversation, Brown will appear at SCREEN FOREVER in conversation with proud Birri Gubba man, Wayne Denning (Managing Director, Carbon Creative). Since 2013, Carbon Creative has collaborated with Sesame Workshop to help marginalised kids in Australia through the power of education. More than just producing content, the collaboration is the perfect platform for the Australian company to fulfil its objective of making good by promoting reconciliation, diversity, and inclusion on a global scale.

This session is a must see for any producer looking to understand the strategies behind creating successful kids shows that tackle diversity and teach emotional intelligence in playful yet thought provoking ways.

Registrations for SCREEN FOREVER are now available. Secure your pass here.
