Message from the Prime Minister
For over 30 years, SCREEN FOREVER has championed the talent, passion and achievements of the Australian screen industry, providing a vital forum for discussion and debate on the issues and challenges that affect all screen businesses.
The Hon Scott Morrison MP, Prime Minister of Australia, sent the following message to the diverse delegate mix of Australian screen professionals who will tomorrow gather in Melbourne to welcome in the 2019 iteration of the conference:
"The stories we all watch on our screens offer much more than just entertainment. From drama and documentary, to television and cinema, they have the unique ability to inspire and challenge us, provoke new ideas, and provide fresh perspectives on the world in which we live.
Our screen industry lies at the very heart of who we are as a nation. It’s an illustration of the rich tapestry and diversity that we celebrate as a country, acting as a backdrop to the great stories brought to life on our screens.
We believe in this industry. It creates jobs and showcases Australian talent to the world. Through Screen Australia, the Australian Screen Production Incentive and the Producer Offset, we are backing in the industry.
At the heart of the industry’s success are the writers, producers, directors, distributors, performers and so many others who work hard both on and off the screen to celebrate the stories that entertain Australians and the world over. I thank you all for contributing to the success of this most valued and essential industry.
