Meet the 2019 Netflix delegation

 
 

With the countdown now on for Australia’s premier screen industry event, Screen Producer’s Australia (SPA) today released the names of the international Netflix executives who will be joining delegates for three days of inspiration, discovery and unparalleled business opportunities.

Director of Original Series (Drama), Lisa Hamilton Daly, will take part in a thought-provoking in conversation with Jennifer Collins (Director of Content, Fremantle), detailing her extensive development and production slate, including upcoming series Spinning OutFirefly LaneSweet Magnolias and Tiny Pretty Things, as well as delving into the Netflix commissioning process and working with the local market.  

Director of Original Series (Genre & Thriller), Chris Regina, will share his insights into the market potential for, and the creative process of, speculative fiction during the ‘What If…? The creativity, craft, and commerce of science fiction on screen’ panel with Jason Taylor (Producer, X-Men:Apocalypse). Chris is currently overseeing an array of global series like Another LifeWu AssassinsThe Order and Black Summer.

In a SCREEN FOREVER first, Lisa and Chris will co-host a Roundtable, providing delegates a rare opportunity to study how to pitch to the world’s leading internet entertainment service. A second Roundtable will be hosted by Manager of Original Series Production, Robin Neinstein, dissecting the current international production services landscape.

Aussie expat, Ben Buchanan, will also be in attendance. As Senior Manager of Content Acquisition, Ben works alongside local broadcasters to co-commission scripted series originating from Australia for all genres, including drama, comedy, young adult and kids, to serve the Netflix audience around the globe. Most recently, Ben worked on co-commissions for Australian productions The Unlistedand The InBESTigators

On top of participating in the Meet the Buyers: Comedy panel with Rick Kalowski (ABC), Nick Forward (Stan) and Ben Richardson (Viacom), Ben will co-host perhaps the most anticipated event on the 2019 SCREEN FOREVER calendar – the Netflix Pitch – alongside Manager of Original Series, Andrea Alvarado.

Joining this international delegation will be newly appointed Director of Production Policy (APAC) – and former Ausfilm CEO - Debra Richards, who will be involved in the ‘The Global Streaming Boom’ session alongside Paul Wiegard (Co-founder & Managing Director, Madman Entertainment (DocPlay, AnimeLab, Garage)), Ramon Lobato (Senior Research Fellow in the School of Media and Communication, RMIT) and Caroline Pitcher (CEO, Film Victoria).
