Celebrations with a side of lighting fast comedy
In a week’s time, Australia’s screen industry elite will convene in Melbourne on the final night of SCREEN FOREVER to celebrate transcendent storytelling and honour the skill, accomplishment and imagination of our local production businesses at the 19thAnnual Screen Producers Australia (SPA) Awards.
This year’s celebrations will be served with a side of lightning fast comedy, with comedian, Ed Kavalee, set to host. Kavalee has worked extensively in Australian film, television and radio for over a decade. On the small screen he is a regular ensemble member of Network 10’s Have You Been Paying Attention, was an original member of Network 10’s Logie Award-winning Thank God You’re Here and a regular panellist on Seven’s Out of the Question.
In the audio medium, Kavalee is currently a part of the Hughsey & Kate team for the drive home on the HIT Network and has branched out into regular podcasts: as host of MMM’s T.E.A.M. EFFORT with Ed Kavalee and Santo, Sam and Ed’s TOTAL. He has also ventured into the world of feature film, with roles in Any Questions for Ben?, Boytown and $quid.
Kavalee will be joined on stage by the who’s who of Australian film and television, with the full list of presenters as follows: Bethany Whitmore, Doug Bowles, Elaine Crombie, Evie McDonald, Fiona Choi, Hannah Monson, Huw Higginson, Kate McCartney, Kate McLennan, Luke Arnold, Nicole Chamoun, Sigrid Thornton, Tamala Shelton and Tom Gleeson.
54 production businesses are in the running across the 12 Production Awards categories, in addition to the nominees for the Business Awards and Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Anni Browning.
